|  | Harry Barker started on a kitchen table in a New York City loft. Founder CAROL PERKINS modeled with Ford New York, Paris, and London, and has appeared in everything from Vogue to Harpers Bazaar to Victoria’s Secret. While still modeling, she made her debut on Broadway as a fire-eater with Penn & Teller. She learned to fire-eat from Penn & Teller and proudly admits to being the only Ford model with this skill.
While homebound during a life threatening battle with a rare brain tumor, Carol started sewing pillows and quilts for friends with dogs as a form of therapy. The hobby that she started on her kitchen table in New York City helped her through a difficult time. This eventually helped her launch the pet product line, Harry Barker. Her recovery was complete with the addition of her dog, Harry Barker, her Super-Sheltie and in-house muse.
As her cottage industry quickly outgrew her loft, Carol chose Savannah, Georgia to launch the flagship Harry Barker store and simultaneously develop its wholesale, catalog, website and pet portrait gallery. That flagship store was named the BEST NEW RETAIL STORE by Pet Product News in 2001.
In 2003, newly married, Carol and Harry Barker Inc. followed their hearts and relocated the company to Charleston, SC.

We are committed to being a “greenEtrendsetter, producing environmentally conscious products (using organic cotton, hemp, AZO-free dyes, and recycled plastics and polar fleece). We also use sustainable packaging, including biodegradable materials. At Harry Barker, we seek to tread lightly on the planet. Harry Barker is also committed to being a valuable community asset. Our community involvement has included supporting the first K-Task Force at Ground Zero after 9/11, launching a summer art camp for at-risk children featuring pet therapy, and partnering with non-profits to provide special employment opportunities. The company was honored for providing the BEST COMMUNITY SERVICE by Pet Product News in 2002. |
